ECOLOGICAL CONDITION OF GREEN SPACE

Abstract (English):
Urban green spaces are a vital part of urban landscape; they represent the most important eco-logical and esthetic component. Green plantings suffer a strong anthropogenous press of urban ecosystem. The questions of ecological condition of green plantings of Vologda are considered. As methodological basis the method of field research-es on trial (registration) squares and the continuous accounting of vegetation and different types of de-fects in city ecosystems was applied. All measure-ments of plants were executed by standard meth-ods accepted in biology, forest taxation. Patholo-gies and condition of wood phytocenosis of urban environment were revealed. On the example of tree species which are forest forming elements of city green plantings the correlation dependences be-tween morphometric parameters stated above were received. The results of inspection indicate stable deterioration of the condition of trees with age, the quantity of trees with frost cracks and the decay of trunk especially increases. The eccentricity of crane space of the tree and inclination of wood trunk worsen stability and decorative properties of green plantings. Ecological condition of wood plants is influenced negatively by the unsystematic move-ment of visitors, numerous places of picnics and making fires, the parking of cars causing consolida-tion of a soil cover, violation of normal functioning of root systems and mechanical damage of branches and trunks of plants. For the purpose of maintenance of stability of green city plantings it is necessary to carry out systematically environmental monitoring and care of their state, in due time to reveal and eliminate pathologies. The obtained da-ta can be used for justification of potential opportu-nities of phytocenosis in the conditions of urbaniza-tion, the organization of rational use of soil and vegetation resources of urban environment.
