The pike generally hunts for sick and weak fish, thereby clearing reservoirs and creating favorable conditions for valuable species of fish foraging. Al-so it plays an important role in farmer fish breeding as pike meat is valuable foodstuff with low content of fat and high protein. The research objective was to study the condition of the pike fishing in the Ye-nisei River and to give its dimensional and age characteristic for the Yenisei River. The tasks were to study the ratio of the size and age of the pike in explored reservoir; to analyze the condition of the pike fishing in the studied river; to prove the expe-diency of presence of the pike in reservoirs. Col-lecting material was carried out during field re-searches of the author together with the staff of Federal Public Budgetary Research Institution "Re-search Institute of Ecology of Fishery Reservoirs" in 2016 (July-August). The sources of FSBRE "RI FFRE" were also used in the study. The results of researches of the condition of fishing of the pike were presented for the Yenisei River, its dimen-sional and age characteristic and food were given. Sexual maturity and fertility of the pike, feature of spawning were described. The ratio of the sizes and age of the pike in the Yenisei River was shown. Optimum conditions for the reproduction and forag-ing of inhabited fish, including the pike were given. The features of growth rate of the pike depending on food conditions were designated. The catch of the pike in the Yenisei from 1970 to 2016 was con-sidered. The recommendations on the protection of the pike during spawning were made and the need of artificial spawning areas creation was designat-ed.
